Assistant Researcher and Ph.D. Student

Mr. Alaa Mosad is an assistant researcher at the Soils, Water and Environment Research Institute (SWERI), Agriculture Research Center (ARC), Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Egypt – since 2012. He is pursuing a Ph.D. at Kafr Elsheikh University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Soils and Water with collaboration with ICARDA, on research entitled:Water Management and its Practices using Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems. He has donemaster’s degree in Soils and Water sciences, Kafr Elsheikh University,with a fellowship fromICARDA, entitled “Monitoring Rates and Types of Land Degradation in Salt-affected Soils in the northern Nile Delta of Egypt using Remote Sensing and GIS Techniques. Bachelor’s degree, Soils, and Water Sciences, Kafr Elsheikh University, Faculty of Agriculture, with final grade “Excellence with Honor Degree.”He is also acting as country manager of NENA Regional ET-Network Project in Egypt’s site of Sakha: “Establishing and Operating a Regional Network for Field Measurement of Actual Crop Water Consumption (Evapotranspiration).”With is an excellent experience in on-farm water management through participating in many relevant projects between ARC and ICARDA. He is alsoa member of the water productivity and agriculture platform for active information exchange, dialogue, and discussion on all issues related to water productivity in the agricultural sector in the NENA region.
